A fresh batch of leaks points to GTA VI pre-orders going live very soon, with a leaked retailer email and a known leaker pointing to the same window. Here is what is actually being claimed, and where to keep the skepticism dial set.
The retailer email at the center of it
An affiliate email attributed to a major US electronics retailer has been circulating, naming May 18, 2026 as the start of a GTA VI pre-order campaign running through May 21. Multiple content creators with affiliate accounts have shared screenshots of the same message, and at least one industry site says it independently verified the email with two separate affiliates.
Neither the retailer nor Rockstar Games has confirmed the date. Affiliate templates sometimes use placeholder dates that change later, so this is still firmly in rumor territory — but it is one of the more credible pre-order leaks so far.
Why the timing would make sense
The rumored window lines up neatly with Take-Two’s next earnings call on May 21, which covers Q4 and the full fiscal year 2026. Kicking off the marketing push around that date would give the publisher a natural stage to talk numbers, expectations and the road to the November 19, 2026 launch.
It would also slot in with long-running community speculation that the rumored third trailer drops alongside the pre-order opening rather than as a standalone event.
Six SKUs, bundles and “advanced access”
A leaker who claims to have called the pre-order window before the retailer email surfaced says the same source described the lineup. According to that account, there will be six ways to pre-order:
- Three “typical” versions split across digital and physical, with the usual tier structure (think standard and a premium edition).
- One rarer edition bundled with extra items.
- Two console bundles — one with a standard current-gen console, one with the Pro model — each shipping with a digital download code rather than a disc.
The same leaker claims certain editions will include an early window to start playing ahead of the standard release. The wording suggests this is closer to a few-days advanced access for higher-tier buyers than a true early-access program.
A price was reportedly shared with the leaker as well, said to sit somewhere between $60 and $80, but the specific figure is being withheld. No official pricing has been announced.
How much of this should you trust?
A few things to keep in mind before taking any of this to the bank:
- The retailer email is the strongest piece of evidence, and even that is unconfirmed by the companies involved.
- The leaker behind the edition breakdown does not have a spotless track record and has previously been called out for citing weak sources.
- Edition structures with standard, premium, special and console-bundle tiers are fairly standard for major releases, so some of the “leak” may simply be educated guessing.
That said, the overall shape of the rumor — pre-orders opening roughly five months before launch, multiple SKUs, console bundles, and a tied-in trailer moment — fits exactly what you would expect from a release of this scale.
What to watch for next
If the leak is accurate, the next few days should bring:
- An official pre-order announcement from Rockstar.
- The long-rumored third trailer.
- Confirmed pricing across regions and editions.
- Details on any console bundle partnerships.
Until any of that lands, treat the May 18 date and the six-edition breakdown as strong rumors rather than facts — but maybe keep an eye on your inbox and the store pages just in case.
