With Trailer 2 now a year in the rearview and Rockstar still silent, the community is back to hunting for Trailer 3 clues. The newest attempt comes from an unusual angle: planetary alignments.
The astronomy theory
Reddit user JalapenoPoppers24 went through the last 26 Rockstar reveals, covering every trailer and gameplay video since Grand Theft Auto 4. For each one, they calculated the geocentric ecliptic longitudes of all nine classical celestial bodies.
After comparing the planetary positions tied to both existing GTA 6 trailers with current orbits, the theory lands on a very specific window:
- Date: May 14
- Time: 5:00 PM
Not a new approach
This is not the first time fans have looked to the sky for Rockstar hints. Back in November 2024, a moon phase visible in a Rockstar tweet sent the community down a similar path, with many convinced it pointed to the next reveal date.
A more grounded explanation
Planetary theories assume Rockstar plans its marketing around celestial mechanics, which is a stretch. Trailer timing usually lines up with far more earthly factors.
The one worth circling on the calendar: Take-Two's next earnings call is scheduled for May 21. A trailer landing in that window would fit neatly with investor expectations and the building pre-launch push, especially with the November 19 release on the horizon.
Bottom line
Only Rockstar and Take-Two know when Trailer 3 actually drops. The May 14 prediction is pure community pattern reading with no official backing. Marking it costs nothing, but the earnings call window around May 21 remains the more realistic bet.
